I always thought that emotions and colors are one and the same, and that we become a different shade each time our feelings change. I managed to find some free time this weekend and what better way to celebrate it other than trying a new watercolor technique So this is just a freestyle painting, nothing pretentious, only a frame of mind, if I may describe it this way. The fact that I kept using so much blue in my last paintings has been getting on my nerves so that explains the amount of red. However you should not use red or any other heavy color in the lower right corner of an image, it's a mistake and I am aware of it. Oh, I talk too much - fortunately only in my mind...
I think this piece is really incredible! There is great sense of movement across the tall canvas, making a kind of sense of vertigo, sort of like a rocket launched into the sky... Her face lost in the blue makes a sense of mystery as well, and all the hues changing into each other on the way are so beautiful. All that red indeed is somehow cathartic and passionate, it's really energizing to watch and reminds me of letting your emotions flow freely. In fact, I think that the heaviness of the red in the corner and its contrast to the strong blue makes the composition more exciting.
Thank you! Although blue and red are not complementary colors I always thought that they're opposite: blue is divine, red is of mortal. It's kinda like I dying I suppose, you leave behind your blood to rise higher - I've just started reading a book - Evidence of the Afterlife- and they said that after you die the colors become vivid. The afterlife's gotta be awesome!
Red and blue are sort of opposite, though - the warmest and the coldest color. You know, in the chakras red is the "lowest" color connected to earth and blue is near the top is connected to more ethereal frequencies - only purple is higher, as a combination of blue and red it's considered a balance of opposites - earth and sky, body and mind. Evidence of the Afterlife, huh? Sounds like an interesting book. I would love it if the afterlife was colorful...
I didn't know about the chakras. I think I was influenced by iconography, since there, colors have this significance. It is indeed, a very interesting book

To be honest, I pained this one just for myself, I thought that people won't like it
